It is easy to get caught in the rush of things when you are in college. In the midst of studying, part-time jobs, socializing and extracurricular activities that you have, you are most likely to forget one of the most important things, which is straightening out your finances. 1. Plan ahead.

2. Save on food.
One of the major expenses that you have as a student which you might have ignored when you were still living with your parents is your food allowance. Avoid eating at fast food outlets, as this is most likely to ruin your budget. Pack your lunch and plan your meals as much as you can.
3. Take full advantage of student discounts.
Those ID’s in your wallet are not just for show. Student ID’s and memberships in organizations are honored in several establishments which offer discounts.
Also, patronize a certain establishment regularly and you are bound to get bonus cards for being a loyal customer.
4. Use your cash as much as you can.
Since you already have a draft of the items where you will spend your money, it is easier to monitor your cash flow. Avoid using your debit card when you have cash with you. Use your credit cards or write checks only in emergencies. Having debit cards, credit cards and checks handy might lead you to overspend.
5. Keep yourself busy.
Join clubs according to your field of interest.
Keeping busy will let your mind wander and help you stay away from things that you are likely to spend money on when you get bored. Examples of these are snacks, movie tickets or game rentals.
You will be surprised at the amount of money that you will actually save by spending less on luxury items, following your budget plan and saving for financial emergencies that you are most likely to get as a college student.

When we hear Press Release, we may get scared and think it is a big philosophy in writing one.
In fact, a press release is very easy to write, if you know a few rules.
First of all, bear in mind that a press release is issued for journalists, so they can get the news and write about it in their own words.
So, it has to be informative, and it must contain all elements you want to communicate, in a very clear, brief language. A press release is about information, rather than writing style, so style elements have no place here.
Don’t forget to use suggestive titles and headlines, and to give your company’s contact data. Also make sure you communicate the key messages, and emphasize on them, in order for the journalists to be tempted to include them in their articles.

There’s no such thing as jazz music without bass guitars. Their sound is the reason I fell in love with jazz in the first place. I remember the first jazz concerto I’ve attended: I was amazed by the bass guitar. Actually there were two bass guitar players in that band, both of them using short scale bass guitars, which created a terrific atmosphere.
Bass electric guitars are not that easy to play. I’ve tried once, and all I managed to do was to disturb my neighbours and to make my family bribe me to throw away or sell my bass guitar. I agreed to sell it, but I didn’t like what I saw: there were a lot of bass guitars for sale on internet at 100 dollars and under. I can understand that bass electric guitars are not w3anted by a lot of people, but I definitely thought mine was worth more, so I didn’t sell it after all.
Guess what: my kid is playing it today, and I’m so amused that he is fascinated by bass guitars that I even think to buy him some lessons.

What do you think it’s better? Fixed Rate Mortgages or variable rate ones?
Each of them has its own advantages and drawbacks, and surely there’s a risk to take when we decide for one type or mortgage or another.
Fixed rate mortgages are good if the rates have a growing trend: why not make a deal at the current rates, and pay less than some other people who make their deals in a year from now? The advantage is that you pretty much know all the variables: you know what your average income is, and you know how much the mortgage will cost you per year, so you can make some long term calculations and budgeting.
Variable rate mortgages can be good if the market becomes more and more crowded, thus more competitive, and all major players decrease the rates, in order to attract new clients. Then you won’t be happy to pay a fixed rate, when you see the rates dropping every year.

What is efficiency?
Maybe each of us has a personal definition. For me, efficiency is to get jobs done quickly, so I can have half of the day for leisure activities.
Of course this depends on how many jobs you want to accomplish in a due interval of time, let’s say half a day.
How I do this:
- I make a list each morning
- I include everything, from office work to house cleaning or shopping.
- I start doing the tasks on the list, one by one, and cut them as they are done.
- Â At the end of the day, if there is so0mething left, I move it to the next day’s list.
- I always start with the most urgent matters, but I also do the important and non urgent things, because otherwise everything would become urgent pretty soon.
- If I get stuck, I let it aside for a while and do something else. Then I come back with a fresh perspective and most of the times I manage to get even the hardest things done in a simple way.
- Sometimes I appeal to Murphy’s laws: I leave it for the day after tomorrow, because until then, it won’t be necessary to do it any longer
