How Much Do You Spend On Clothes?

If you are a fan of designer clothes, and you always like to be in fashion and follow the current trends, this is going to cost you quite a lot. It is your decision, and your money, after all.

Buying clothes these days is always a choice between the designer-made outfit or those cheap but quality items that you could pull together and express your personality in many different ways.

Most experts contend that clothes can definitely make or break a person. They say that your personality is usually reflected on how you dress up. But it does not necessarily mean that good fashion would absolutely mean expensive clothes.

Hence, you can still make a remarkable fashion statement without having to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars just for your clothes.

Here is a list of some money-saving tips when buying clothes that would turn other people’s heads to you but would not definitely break your wallet.

1. Do the math

Choosing fashionable clothes can be really tricky, not unless you know how to do the math! So before you buy three sets of clothes that would cost you hundreds of dollars, try to go for the budget-friendly dozen of items that you can even match alternatively.

The number of expensive items that your money can buy is definitely doubled or even tripled when you buy cheaper ones but can still make a good fashion statement.

2. Know what you want

Saving money is definitely based on knowing what you want whenever you spend your money on something. If you know what you want, this means that you have researched the item, have compared them with the other items, you will be able to come up with the lowest price of the product.

3. Drive your way to a “thrift store”

Usually, these “thrift stores” are non-profit organizations. This means that they are usually operating for charity. They give their proceeds to some charitable institutions.

Hence, the prices of the clothes being sold in the thrift store are absolutely cheaper than the ones being sold in the department store. So that would mean many savings for you.

Best of all, you do not only get to save more money, you get to do some charity work as well.

The bottom line here is that when shopping for clothes, do not shop for the brand name, shop for the quality. Yes, usually brand names offer also quality, but there are also very good quality, much cheaper alternatives. Think twice before buying that Prada handbag: do you really need it?

Nowadays, you just have to be practical. Better spend your money on more important things than those designer clothes. But as I said, it is up to you how you get dressed, and if you have a lot of money, you may not really care about savings.

Money Saving Tips For Students

It is easy to get caught in the rush of things when you are in college. In the midst of studying, part-time jobs, socializing and extracurricular activities that you have, you are most likely to forget one of the most important things, which is straightening out your finances. You like to socialize, you like to go out with friends, so you are tempted to overspend. This is how, many years after graduation, there are a lot of students who are still paying their college debts.

Here are some tips on how you can save money as a student:

1. Plan ahead.

If possible, do this even before you move into your dorm room.

Check if you are eligible for scholarships and other grants before signing up for any form of student loan.

Construct a cash flow. First, where do you expect to get money from? Make a list of your “income”, be it from your parents, your student loan or your part-time job.

Then forecast your expected monthly or weekly expenses for food, books, etc. Once you have set aside a budget, be strict with yourself and stick to it.

You will never know what unexpected expenses would come your way so it is better to have a downfall for financial emergencies.

2. Save on food.

One of the major expenses that you have as a student which you might have ignored when you were still living with your parents is your food allowance. Avoid eating at fast food outlets, as this is most likely to ruin your budget. Pack your lunch and plan your meals as much as you can.

3. Take full advantage of student discounts.

Those IDs in your wallet are not just for show. Student IDs and memberships in organizations are honored in several establishments which offer discounts.

Also, patronize a certain establishment regularly and you are bound to get bonus cards for being a loyal customer.

4. Use your cash as much as you can.

Since you already have a draft of the items where you will spend your money, it is easier to monitor your cash flow. Avoid using your debit card when you have cash with you. Use your credit cards or write checks only in emergencies. Having debit cards, credit cards and checks handy might lead you to overspend.

5. Keep yourself busy.

Join clubs according to your field of interest.

Keeping busy will let your mind wander and help you stay away from things that you are likely to spend money on when you get bored. Examples of these are snacks, movie tickets or game rentals.

You will be surprised at the amount of money that you will actually save by spending less on luxury items, following your budget plan and saving for financial emergencies that you are most likely to get as a college student. If you have a job or you make money somehow, you might think of getting yourself a guide to real estate investing. Crisis times are good for buying properties, and keep them until prices go high again, then make a nice profit.

How A Press Release Can Help You Boost Your Traffic

When we hear Press Release, we may get scared and think it is a big philosophy in writing one.

In fact, a press release is very easy to write, if you know a few rules.

First of all, bear in mind that a press release is issued for journalists, so they can get the news and write about it in their own words.

So, it has to be informative, and it must contain all elements you want to communicate, in a very clear, brief language. A press release is about information, rather than writing style, so style elements have no place here.

Don’t forget to use suggestive titles and headlines, and to give your company’s contact data. Also make sure you communicate the key messages, and emphasize on them, in order for the journalists to be tempted to include them in their articles.

If you take care and manage to raise interest for your news, your press release may be a real success and get you lots of traffic and customers for your business. Don’t forget that you need reliable blog hosting, just in case your blog gets flooded with traffic following the press release.

Bass Guitars And Jazz Music

There’s no such thing as jazz music without bass guitars. Their sound is the reason I fell in love with jazz in the first place. I remember the first jazz concerto I’ve attended: I was amazed by the bass guitar. Actually there were two bass guitar players in that band, both of them using short scale bass guitars, which created a terrific atmosphere.

Bass electric guitars are not that easy to play. I’ve tried once, and all I managed to do was to disturb my neighbours and to make my family bribe me to throw away or sell my bass guitar. I agreed to sell it, but I didn’t like what I saw: there were a lot of bass guitars for sale on internet at 100 dollars and under. I can understand that bass electric guitars are not w3anted by a lot of people, but I definitely thought mine was worth more, so I didn’t sell it after all.

Guess what: my kid is playing it today, and I’m so amused that he is fascinated by bass guitars that I even think to buy him some lessons.

Which Mortgage Type Is Better: Fixed Or Variable Rate?

What do you think it’s better? Fixed Rate Mortgages or variable rate ones?

Each of them has its own advantages and drawbacks, and surely there’s a risk to take when we decide for one type or mortgage or another.

Fixed rate mortgages are good if the rates have a growing trend: why not make a deal at the current rates, and pay less than some other people who make their deals in a year from now? The advantage is that you pretty much know all the variables: you know what your average income is, and you know how much the mortgage will cost you per year, so you can make some long term calculations and budgeting.

Variable rate mortgages can be good if the market becomes more and more crowded, thus more competitive, and all major players decrease the rates, in order to attract new clients. Then you won’t be happy to pay a fixed rate, when you see the rates dropping every year.

Anyway, before you decide, you’d better do your homework right and compare as many options as you can, to see what’s best for you. This can be done online, on websites like MoneyMagic, where you can apply online to get your free mortgage quotes.

Are You Efficient?

What is efficiency?

Maybe each of us has a personal definition. For me, efficiency is to get jobs done quickly, so I can have half of the day for leisure activities.

Of course this depends on how many jobs you want to accomplish in a due interval of time, let’s say half a day.

How I do this:

  1. I make a list each morning
  2. I include everything, from office work to house cleaning or shopping.
  3. I start doing the tasks on the list, one by one, and cut them as they are done.
  4.  At the end of the day, if there is so0mething left, I move it to the next day’s list.
  5. I always start with the most urgent matters, but I also do the important and non urgent things, because otherwise everything would become urgent pretty soon.
  6. If I get stuck, I let it aside for a while and do something else. Then I come back with a fresh perspective and most of the times I manage to get even the hardest things done in a simple way.
  7. Sometimes I appeal to Murphy’s laws: I leave it for the day after tomorrow, because until then, it won’t be necessary to do it any longer :)

How are you doing things? Are you efficient?

Temperature@lert Is Now Officially SPEC Power Compliant

We have good news for those of you who are interested in the IT industry:

Temperature@lert has been accepted as a SPEC Power compliant device.
It is the only approved device available with 64-bit drivers, which makes it unique and indispensable for all those who care about their computers.

If you don’t know what it is, please find out that Temperature@lert is an USB temperature sensor which can send temperature alerts via e-mail.

This is the official press release:

SPECpower_ssj2008 is the latest installment of an IT industry benchmark evaluates the power and performance characteristics in larger volume server class computers. It was created out of a need to monitor and regroup energy use from the IT industry and computer manufactures around the world.

SPECpower_ssj2008 does not only measure AC power from the source but it delivers a calibrated matrix for all computer functions including ambient temperature. There are two temperature measuring tools that are compatible with SPECpower_ssj2008 and the only one with support for 64-bit drivers is Temperarture@lert.

With the combination of the SPECpower_ssj2008 and Temperature@lert system administrators can run both temperature and power controls. The SPECpower_ssj2008 measures power for the AC input and combines the implementation to a performance metric. This provides pertinent information about what power considerations are made when considering which data center. Coupled with Temperature@lert, the power and temperature gradient works in symbiotic form to provide the best accuracy available in the IT industry.

We’d like to extend a special thanks to Greg D. and his team at Dell Inc. whose deep knowledge and expertise made this possible.
