Many people spend a lot during holidays. They buy much more things for themselves, probably because they feel like they deserve a reward for their work throughout the year. And all their friends and family members are expecting some nice presents, because they’ve been good, too. And here’s our poor John Doe, facing the dilemma of getting deeper in debt or upsetting his family.
What John Doe doesn’t know, is that you son’t have to spend a lot in order to please your beloved ones. Here are a few tips to follow:
- Start shopping for Christmas early in the year (the end of summer can be a good time). In this way, you’ll have time to chase bargains
- Pay attention to what your friends and family want or need. They might be very pleased with a $10 table cloth with Santa Claus, and get deeply unhappy with a $100 purse which is not in their favorite shape or color.
- If you have a lot of friends with similar tastes, you can buy presents in bulk. You’ll get some significant discounts.
- If you have some teenagers in your family, you could buy them internet domains with their name, plus a very cheap hosting. They will like the idea of composing and publishing their online resume, for their friends to see.
- If you go to some exotic trips, you can think to buy some souvenirs from there: for example, in Egypt you can buy papyrus paintings at derisory prices. They look amazing, they are hard to find in your country, and if you invest a bit more and buy some decent frames, you’ll have a lot of cool presents. Even your grandma will love that!
Last, but not least, don’t forget to be creative, and remember that cheap does not always mean bad quality.
